Accessibility Statement

We want this website to work for everyone.

Last updated: 25/08/2026

Not everyone reads a screen the same way. Some people use a screen reader, some navigate by keyboard because a mouse is difficult, some need larger text, and plenty of horse owners are reading this on a phone, one-handed, in a yard, in the rain, with cold fingers. All of those count.

This page sets out what we've done, what we know isn't right yet, and how to tell us when something doesn't work for you.

What we aim for

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 Level AA — the international standard for web accessibility. We're not claiming we meet it perfectly. We're claiming it's the target, and that when we fall short we want to know.

We're also mindful of our duty under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments so that disabled people aren't put at a disadvantage. That duty doesn't stop at the website: if any part of dealing with us is difficult because of a disability, tell us and we'll find another way.

What we have done

  • Text can be resized in your browser without the page breaking

  • Pages work on a phone as well as a desktop

  • Every page can be reached and used with a keyboard alone

  • We've chosen colours with contrast in mind, and we don't rely on colour alone to make a point

  • Images that carry meaning have text descriptions

  • We write in plain English, and we've deliberately kept our privacy notice, terms and pricing readable rather than legalisti

What we know isn't right yet

Being honest about this is more useful than a clean bill of health, so:

  • Our website is built on Wix. Some of the underlying code is outside our control, and parts of it don't meet the standard as well as we'd like.

  • Our pricing calculator and catchment checker are custom tools we built ourselves. We've tried to make them keyboard-accessible and screen-reader friendly, but they've had less testing with assistive technology than we'd want.

  • Our registration form is a third-party component. We believe it's usable with assistive technology, but we haven't verified this independently.

  • We have not commissioned a formal accessibility audit. We're a new, small practice. We intend to, and until we have, this statement reflects our own testing rather than an expert's.

  • Some documents may be provided in formats that aren't ideal for screen readers.

If any of the above affects you, the next section matters more than the rest of this page.

IF something doesn't look right - tell us

Ring us on 01825 700909. Anything you can do on this website, you can do by talking to a person instead. Registering, asking about prices, checking whether we cover your yard — all of it. You will never be worse off for not using the site.

Email hello@atticusequine.com if that's easier.

We'll respond within five working days, and we'll tell you honestly whether it's something we can fix quickly, something that'll take longer, or something we can't change because it's built into the platform. Where we can't fix it, we'll find another way to get you what you needed.

If you need information in another format — larger print, a different file type, read aloud over the phone — just ask. There's no charge and no special process.

Things we'll do differently if you need it

Accessibility isn't only about the website, and for a veterinary practice the practical side often matters more:

  • We can discuss your horse's care by phone or in person rather than by email

  • We can send written summaries after visits if that's easier to take in than a conversation

  • We can give you more time — appointments aren't a conveyor belt

  • If you'd find it easier to have someone with you when we discuss treatment, that's entirely welcome

  • Tell us what helps and we'll record it, so you don't have to explain it again every visit

Enforcement

If we don't respond properly to your concern, the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS) provides free advice about discrimination and reasonable adjustments in the UK.

How we tested this

We tested the site ourselves using keyboard-only navigation, browser zoom, and mobile devices, and reviewed colour contrast. This is not a substitute for a formal audit by accessibility specialists, and we don't pretend it is.

We'll update this page as we improve things, and change the date at the top when we do.
